High-temperature SiC and MoSi2 heating elements for furnace projects martin@qs-heatingelements.com
Silicon Carbide Heating Elements

Type SGR SiC Heating Elements

Type SGR SiC Heating Elements are custom resistance heaters for industrial kilns and furnaces. Dimensions and nominal resistance are manufactured after checking the hot zone, cold ends, power supply, process atmosphere and installation arrangement.

Type SGR SiC Heating Elements

Product Overview

Type SGR uses a spiral-cut or threaded hot section to create a longer electrical path in a compact body. The cut pattern, wall thickness and heated length must be controlled together because they determine resistance distribution and mechanical strength.

Applications

This construction is considered for ceramic firing, glass heating, sintering lines and retrofit work where a compact high-resistance zone is required.

Selection Data

Specify outside diameter, inside diameter when tubular, spiral length, pitch, terminal size, nominal resistance and permissible surface loading. Clear photographs of both ends help distinguish SGR from visually similar spiral SiC designs.

Quotation Checklist

For a faster technical response, include the furnace manufacturer and model when known, photographs of the complete element and both terminals, a sketch with dimensions, the required quantity and the reason for replacement. If an old sample is available, retain it until the proposed dimensions and resistance have been agreed.

Replacement Reference

When cross-referencing a Globar SG or SR style, an I2R spiral element or a Tokai EREMA element, model names are only starting points. Production begins only after dimensions, resistance and furnace conditions are confirmed.

Technical Review Before Production

A heating element should not be selected from appearance alone. Send the existing drawing, readable markings, overall and sectional dimensions, nominal resistance, voltage, power and quantity. Also identify the furnace temperature, atmosphere, cycle frequency and mounting orientation. These details allow the proposed geometry to be checked before a quotation or production drawing is issued.

Installation And Service Considerations

Element spacing, terminal ventilation, support design and expansion clearance affect operating stability. New and aged elements may have different electrical behaviour, so circuit grouping and transformer adjustment should be reviewed during maintenance. Avoid mechanical stress during unpacking and installation, and keep conductive contamination away from terminals and insulation.

Supply Scope And Important Notice

Type SGR SiC Heating Elements can be supplied in standard or customer-specific dimensions after technical confirmation. The final proposal applies only to the reviewed drawing and operating conditions. Brand and furnace-maker names, when mentioned, identify the customer’s existing equipment; they do not imply authorization, endorsement or a universal drop-in replacement.
