High-temperature SiC and MoSi2 heating elements for furnace projects martin@qs-heatingelements.com
Silicon Carbide Heating Elements

Type U CU SiC Elements

Type U CU SiC Elements are custom resistance heaters for industrial kilns and furnaces. Dimensions and nominal resistance are manufactured after checking the hot zone, cold ends, power supply, process atmosphere and installation arrangement.

Type U CU SiC Elements

Product Overview

Type U and CU silicon carbide elements bring both electrical connections to one side of the furnace. The return bend and leg spacing are engineered so that the active sections fit the chamber without contacting insulation, ware or metallic supports.

Applications

They are suitable for kilns and furnaces where one-side access simplifies wiring or maintenance, including chambers with restricted rear access.

Selection Data

Provide leg diameter, center distance, hot-zone positions, terminal lengths, overall insertion depth and resistance. The furnace drawing should identify roof, wall or floor entry and the available clearance around the bend.

Technical Review Before Production

A heating element should not be selected from appearance alone. Send the existing drawing, readable markings, overall and sectional dimensions, nominal resistance, voltage, power and quantity. Also identify the furnace temperature, atmosphere, cycle frequency and mounting orientation. These details allow the proposed geometry to be checked before a quotation or production drawing is issued.

Replacement Reference

Replacement evaluation for U-shaped Kanthal Globar, I2R or Tokai EREMA elements is available from drawings or samples. Equivalent appearance does not guarantee equivalent power distribution.

Installation And Service Considerations

Element spacing, terminal ventilation, support design and expansion clearance affect operating stability. New and aged elements may have different electrical behaviour, so circuit grouping and transformer adjustment should be reviewed during maintenance. Avoid mechanical stress during unpacking and installation, and keep conductive contamination away from terminals and insulation.

Quotation Checklist

For a faster technical response, include the furnace manufacturer and model when known, photographs of the complete element and both terminals, a sketch with dimensions, the required quantity and the reason for replacement. If an old sample is available, retain it until the proposed dimensions and resistance have been agreed.

Supply Scope And Important Notice

Type U CU SiC Elements can be supplied in standard or customer-specific dimensions after technical confirmation. The final proposal applies only to the reviewed drawing and operating conditions. Brand and furnace-maker names, when mentioned, identify the customer’s existing equipment; they do not imply authorization, endorsement or a universal drop-in replacement.
